The Dancers of Why All This Music
Maeve Haselton
Based in Seattle, WA, Maeve Haselton is a freelance dancer, choreographer, and film director. They graduated from Cornish College of the Arts’ Dance department through the Advanced Degree Program in 2018. Afterward, they have continued training in cities such as Berlin, Seattle, New York City, and Quebéc. Haselton has had the pleasure of performing in the works of choreographers such as Danielle Agami, Netta Yerushalmy, Beth Terwilleger, Bruce McCormick, Cameo Lethem, Karin Stevens, and more. Their choreography has been shown at Base: Experimental Arts + Space, Velocity Dance Center, Vashon Center for the Arts, Open Space for Arts and Community, and Kerry Hall. Currently, they are working on an experimental dance film with videographer/editor Devin Muñoz expected to premiere in 2020. Maeve cannot wait to dance in their second performance with KSD!
Robert moore
Robert Moore, from Hamden, CT, began dancing at New England Ballet and continued at Dee Dee’s Dance Center and New Haven Ballet. He is an alumnus of Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts, the Ailey Summer Intensive, Cunningham Trust Workshop, Jacob’s Pillow’s Commercial Dance Program, and the Complexions Intensive. He went to Mexico with JUNTOS Collective, and taught with Notes in Motion, Arthur Aviles Typical Theatre, and JD/dansfolk. Robert graduated magna cum laude from the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program and has danced with Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre, The Steps Repertory Ensemble, AATMA Performing Arts, Whidbey Island Dance Theatre, Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center, Karin Stevens Dance, the Guild Dance Company, Kinesis Project Dance Theater, The Gray, PRICEArts, Coriolis Dance, Khambatta Dance Company, and Spectrum Dance Theater.
Ben Swenson-klatt
Ben Swenson-Klatt is a performing artist, producer, choreographer, and arts organizer originally from Minneapolis, MN. They graduated from St. Olaf College with a B.A in Theater and Dance and have recently performed and worked with Dacha Theatre, Beth Terwilleger, The Moving Company at The Guthrie, ARENA Dances, Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater, and Leyya Mona Tawil. They have presented original work at the Center for Performing Arts, St. Olaf College, ACDA North-Central Conference, Future Interstates, and at Bearnstow in Mount Vernon, ME. They are also a current member of Washington Ensemble Theatre and work as the Director of Development.
Hazel morris
Hazel Morris (Port Aransas, Texas) began formal dance training at the age of three and went on to perform as a company member with Corpus Christi Concert Ballet prior to college. She graduated from TCU in 2016 as a John V. Roach Honors Laureate with a BFA in Modern Dance and a BS in Communication Studies. Hazel performed for Nina Martin, Pat Graney, and as the soloist in Loops and Tides (film) by JMWorks in addition to numerous faculty and student shows while at TCU. Since coming to Seattle in 2016, Hazel has performed in dance works by Karin Stevens Dance, Alice Gosti, Laura Aschoff and Markeith Wiley, and as the soloist in Laser Dot Productions' "2 Very Ripe Musa Acuminatas" (film) among other projects. Hazel is honored to be experiencing and performing this work with KSD and talented local musicians!
Micaela Gonzales
Micaela Gonzales is a native Texan that has dedicated her life to dance. In San Antonio, she began her training at age three thanks to the help and support of her mother. Micaela studied with Connally’s Dance Workshop and then later joined the studio’s pre-professional dance company, San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet, where she was a Senior Company member for 4 years.
She graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in 2018 where she was trained by local Seattle natives Pat Hon, Wade Madsen, Deborah Wolf, and Michele Miller. Along with those, she has done performances in involvement with Tinka Gutrik-Dailey, Ethan Rome, and Danielle Agami.
Since graduating, she has explored the art of burlesque and continued her exploration of modern, contemporary dance. Her goal is to spread the arts to the surrounding communities. Her love of collaboration and mixed medium arts projects are what drives her.
Emma Klein
Emma has spent over 10 years in Seattle performing and creating works in collaboration with movement makers such as Stimulate Dance, Michele Miller, Aiko Kinoshita, Hope Goldman, and the Asterisk Project. Emma has taught movement to students of all ages in Seattle, Boston, Eritrea, and Palestine and in 2009, Emma worked with incarcerated women at the Mission Creek Correctional Center as a member of Pat Graney’s Keeping the Faith Project. Emma is empowered by the beauty and strength of combining art with healing, peace, and justice. She has deeply enjoyed the process of working with KSD and is excited to be a part of Karin’s ongoing work using movement to celebrate and promote environmental consciousness.
Anja Kellner-Rogers
Anja is a movement artist who is passionate about performing and teaching. During the last six years that Anja has lived in Seattle she has worked with various artists including Tim Johnson, Jamie Waliczek, KT Niehoff, Shannon Stewart, Noelle Chun, Alyza Delpan-Monley, Kimberly Holloway and Alice Gosti. She has had the pleasure of working and performing with KSD since 2015 and she's thrilled to to be part of this exciting new work that feels intricate and multidimensional in both form and function.
